It is a fairly typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain light greyish blue background (village rank) .
In field argent, realized as light grey, upon base wavy of argent and azure a church or in its centre cross and door purpure, couped sun radiant gules with face on central chiefpoint. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals: "CANHAS - PONTA DO SOL".
Source: I spotted this flag in the town hall of Ponta do Sol on 16 February 2012.
