The flag is quartered yellow over blue, and the coat of arms is red, on a rocky mount vert lined sable, a castle tower gold lit and opened blue, between two crescents argent pointing upwards and two five pointed stars of the same. This of course represents the local rocky hills, of mystical past and weird meteorology, and its moorish castle.
António Martins-Tuválkin, 6 Mar 1998
A quite frequent variation without scroll. Scroll-less flags and coats of arms can be seen even in official municipal buildings and printed material. As far as I know, the only other portuguese municipality doing this is the neighbouring Cascais.
