It is a fairly untypical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a green and yellow quartered field (town rank).

The arms are Or a pipe Gules set fessy surging Argent and Azure from both ends, in chief a fleur de lis Azure, in base seven wheat ears Vert tied Gules. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "CANO - SOUSEL".
Meaning:
"Cano" means "pipe" (the tube for fluids, not the smoking implement) and the arms are canting.

Cano Commune is one of the four communes of Sousel Municipality (q.v.); it had 1537 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 49,41 km².
