Shield Gules, a knight Argent with sword and shield charged with the sword cross of St. James, riding on a horse Sable, in orle eight scallops Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "FREGUESIA DE SANTIAGO DO CACÉM".
Meaning:
The knight also appears in the arms of the municipality. It is St. James the Elder (Portuguese: São Tiago, Spanish: Santiago), the patron saint and name giver of commune and municipality. The scallop is his attribute.

The great cross is canting and a representation of the Holy Cross, which has the local patronage. The sword cross is an attribute of St. James the Elder (Santiago), name giver of the municipality of Santiago do Cacém.

Shield abased parted per fess dancetty of Argent and Azure, a cork oak eradicated Vert peeled Gules, on dexter chief a knife Purpure in pale, on sinister chief a cross fleury fitchy Gules, also known as sword cross, Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "S. BARTOLOMEU DA SERRA".
Meaning:
The knife is an attribute of St. Bartholomew, name giver and local patron saint of the commune. The sword cross is an attribute of St. James the Elder (Santiago), name giver of the municipality of Santiago do Cacém. The dancetty line of partition is symbolising a mountain ridge (Portuguese: serra). The cork oak is referring to an important local business line.
