Inatel is a portuguese government-owned chain of spa hotels, seaside
resorts and sport facilities nowadaws devoted mainly to senior citizen
and/or low budget tourism and out door activities, having evolved for
an originally fascist type structure founded in the 1930ies as FNAT
(Federação Nacional para a Alegria no Trabalho / National
Federation for Joy at Work…), inspired by italian and german
counterparts.

Inatel flies in its facilities a bright blue flag with its yellow logo,
a stylized sun, and lettering "INATEL" in white capitals bellow.

This organism is responsible for planning and keeping in good conditions the roads payed for by the state (there are also municipal roads) and for which no toll is levied. Highways all have tolls, even if at zero cost to the user in some places, and despite being usually payed by the state their preservation is in charge of various semi-private operators, of which the most visible is Brisa.
The design is little more than a Logo-on-Bedsheet as it would be expected from this sort of organization. Above and centred is their logo, below that is their name. The colour inside the logo is the same as the field of the flag, a very bright yellow.

JAE, its predecessor, had the same design but with
"JAE" (for Junta Autónoma de Estradas) instead of
"IEP" and the colour of both logo and flag orange.
