Yalova University (website) was established on 31 March
2008. Yalova University dates back to the Uludağ University Yalova
Vocational School. Due to the need of a university in Yalova that became
a province in 1995, the Yalova Higher Education Foundation was
established on 22 January 1996. On 19 February 2007 the Yalova
University Association was established. Yalova University started
education in 2008.
The university is composed of 5 Faculties, 2 Institutes, 4 vocational
Schools and 1 School.
The flag of Yalova University (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo, photo) is white with the university's emblem in the center.
The original university's emblem, adopted in 2008 when the university was established, was replaced in 2013 by the present-day's emblem.
The original logo features Yalova's landmark, the Yürüyen Kiosk.
One day Atatürk went to the kiosk. Workers said:"The branches of plane tree nearby the kiosk are crashing and damaging the windows of the kiosk. We have to cut branches of the plane tree." Atatürk replied: "No! Even we won't touch the plane tree, we will change the kiosk's location." Then they slid the kiosk with tram rails. And people gave a new name to kiosk called Yürüyen Köşk (Walking Kiosk).

In the aftermath of the aborted coup of 15 June 2016, the University of Yalova was "purged" for alleged links with the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ, the name given to the Gülen movement by the Turkish government).
Hasan Topçular, Governor of the Yalova Province (MHP), asked the new rector of the university, Ali Erbaş, to re-establish the original logo, which had been changed "by FETÖ".
The call was supported by the Mayor of Yalova, Vefa Salman (CHP), who added that the colors of the new logo - burgundy red and turquoise blue - are not those of the town - red and green.
