Moorpark (36,150 inhabitants; 12.44 sq. miles), incorporated 1 July 1983, is located in the southeastern part of Ventura County, just 50 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. In 1887, Robert W. Poindexter was granted title to the present site of Moorpark. He named the City after the Moorpark apricot which grew throughout the valley. Poindexter plotted Moorpark city streets and planted Pepper trees ("Schinus molle", aka Peruvian pepper or California pepper tree) in the downtown area.

Quoting "The Moorpark Acorn", 14 December 2007:
"At a recent City Council meeting, the city of Moorpark adopted its first city flag which will be flown at designated city facilities and used at various events such as parades. The flag features the city seal in a field of medium blue with "Moorpark California" along the bottom portion. The design was selected from among several renditions."

The above source shows a black and white image of the flag, while the municipal website shows the seal in colours. I guess that the main element of the seal is an apricot flower. Everything you ever wanted to know on the Moorpark apricot (Prunus
armeniaca 'Moorpark'; indeed an apricot cultivar, that is, a cultivated variety with fixed characteristics) is available on the Backyard Gardener website: www.backyardgardener.com/plantname/pda_7003-2.html.

The Moorpark city flag in use appears to have a light shade of blue:

The website at ci.moorpark.ca.us/cgi-bin/start.exe/moorpark/index.html shows a municipal seal in a circular format, but a much larger one than that commonly
associated with municipal seals. Within a narrow outer ring are the words 'MOORPARK CALIFORNIA' in small black block lettering with a space between the words. The bottom of the outer ring contains the words 'INCORPORATED JULY 1 1883' similarly written. The central image depicts a blue sky with a long white cumulus cloud horizontally within the plane of the image. Below this, in the left foreground, is a large white flower with a golden center and distinct gold markings on each of its five petals. This flower rests on a bed of dark green leaves and has a light brown stem outlined in black. The whole rests on a bed of light green vegetation visible to the left background and center foreground of the flower.
