According to this article by The Deming Headlight, it says that the mayor sent a letter of appreciation to Kara Naber for making the Village of Columbus flag. So we can say the first flag of Columbus was adopted probably in April of 1989. I am unsure about the details of this flag, and if it even is used by the village to this day.
