Dillon Yacht Club uses the tag "World's Highest - 9017 ft". That means it would be 2.7 km above sea level. Indeed, the Dillon Reservoir is that high up. It was created to gathers rain that falls even higher up, on the westward slopes. In 1962 a tunnel was finished to connect the reservoir with Denver. That city lies on the eastward slopes and might run the risk of running out of water. The next year, in 1963, the reservoir's dam was completed, opening the reservoir.

In 1964, boating on the new lake started, and by 1968 a yacht club was formed, in the relocated town of Dillon, Colorado, called the Dillon Yacht Club. Obviously, Lake Dillon is its home water.

Indeed, this is the highest yacht club, that I know of, but in the past the Grand Lake Yacht Club held that title, being from 1902. And later the Lake Granby Yacht Club became the highest; at least the waters are from 1950. Some time future, a yacht club will be created in an even higher spot: records are meant to be broken.

DYC has a website, https://dillonyachtclub.com, as their burgee's details are beyond my skills. Three red sails on a lake with a blue wave pattern, with over that a mountain range in white with over that a blue sky, with in it in canton a single white three-pointed star, one point downward. Some of the details may be actual landmarks, but all I could do is reduce the image to slightly.
