The Plymouth Yacht Club was chartered on 5 June 1890 but already existed beforehand. Nearly moribund in the early 1930s, the PYC merged in winter 1938-39 with the very active Pilgrim Yacht Club (founded in 1925), the merger keeping the name of Plymouth Yacht Club.
The burgee of the PYC is red with three white stars.

Checking the Plymouth Yacht Club for before the merger shows it to have the
three stars. It also shows a Pilgrim Yacht Club in the 1900 and teens. But in
the 1900 and twenties, it turns out there were two Pilgrim Yacht Clubs, one in
NY, and the other one is Mass. Indeed, we're looking for a Massachusetts one!
I don?t know exactly what it represents, but in 1927, someone pictured that
page of Lloyd's. Not really a good one, but that's how that Pilgrim Yacht Club
burgee looked, if you blow it up to thrice the size.
