THE FLAG - Attributes and Semiology -
Consists on a field with approximate ratio 2:3; this is, square
and half of length horizontally divided in three stripes: the
upper one sky blue and the lower one dark blue, both with width
equivalent to 2/5 parts of the one of the field,
whereas the rest fifth in the middle of both of it is light
green. Completes the design a dark blue triangle reinforced with
four fimbriations in angle with the colors white, yellow, light
brown and black; the light green map of the State on the center
of the dark blue triangle and four white five-pointed stars
disposed in arc of circumference with the convexity upwards on
the celestial blue stripe. Sky blue represents the Deltaic sky
where the hope covers and protects the aspirations of the
inhabitants of the region, inspiring the force to raise their
spirit and to overcome the difficulties that can limit the
harmonic and deserved development of the state. The stars
symbolizes the four municipalities which conform the state and
are white for remember the peace, the harmony, the spiritual
tranquility and the bonanza necessaries for the well-being of the
Deltaic community. Dark blue represents the extraordinary
hydrographic extension of the State: its multiple fluvial routes
and the volume of the numerous sewers which the Father river, the
Orinoco, scatters with its innumerable arms over the region.
Clear green alludes to the vegetation of the State alerting
to contemporary man about rational exploding of
palmito (a product obtained from the palm tree on the region),
the forest resources, the preservation of the flora and fauna of
the delicate regional ecosystem and also represents the farming
production and whatever make it possible: the Deltaic producers.
The triangle remembers the mouth of Orinoco river spilling its
waters on the Atlantic Ocean through countless sewers and
symbolizes the fourth letter of Greek alphabet, which alludes
properly to the name of the State also represented by means of
its territorial profile. With regards to the fimbriations
it’s possible to mention that the white one symbolizes the
combination of all the colors of solar spectrum and is a tribute
to the discoverers of the Delta who with the pass of the time
were based there and mixed themselves to found Tucupita giving
origin to the settlers of the region, emphasizing its friendly
and kind purity; the yellow one represents the mineral wealth of
the region and the reflex of the sun that is forms on its aquatic
surface in the dusks; clear brown one alludes to the fertility of
the ground and the skin’s tone of the ethnic group Warao,
ancestral inhabitants of the region with all its important
presence and cultural legacy; the black symbolizes the oil, gas
and carboniferous wealth of Delta Amacuro.

Valderrey as result of the contest organized to the effect by the
Government of the State summoned on June 18th, 2004 and realized
on September 14th, that year, it was officially established by
the Legislative Council on the Partial Reformation of the Law of
Symbols of Delta Amacuro State dated on October 14th, 2004.

Attributes - The Deltaic Coat of Arms presents a compound shape
filled in Or and divided per bend. The Sinister Quarter of the
Chief enameled in Azure (blue), shows a six pointed star in Or
(yellow). The Dexter Quarter of the Base enameled in Argent
(silver) shows a natural landscape. Over all, a Bend in Gules
(red) filleted in Argent above and with a Cord in Or (yellow)
below charges a caduceus in its color. As external ornaments
appears an image of El Libertador Simón Bolívar on the center
of a golden garland with rays as crest; two tenants: an
aboriginal man at the dexter and the Liberty goddess at sinister
sustained by a pedestal which sustains too a stylized amphora in
Or charged with fruit and vegetables and a Vert (green) pennant
which lace a laurel branch to the dexter and another one of olive
tree to the sinister showing as motto the inscription “LA
PAZ EN LA FEDERACIÓN” (“THE PEACE IN THE
FEDERATION”) in Sable (black) gothic capital letters.
- Semiology - The First Quarter remembers to the sky of the
region with a star which simultaneously represents the morning
star and the sun that arises by East, indicating that Delta
Amacuro is the Eastern region of Venezuela. The Second Quarter in
Argent shows mountains which represent last spurs
of Imataca Ridge pertaining to the Guayanian Shield or
Bulk: the only ones on the state; in addition, appears
a cloud whose formation is product of a surface of hygrometric
and thermal discontinuity, characteristic of the zone. The Bend
in Gules with fillet of Silver above and cord in Or below
presents a caduceus which heraldically symbolizes the power
(sceptre), the prudence (snakes) and the activity (wings) in
addition to being emblem of commerce and in this particular case,
represents the commercial, industrial and economic future of
Delta Amacuro Delta. The image of Simón Bolivar El
Libertador in the middle of a laurels crown and a aureole that
reminds the Sun of the Freedom alludes to his triumph over the
Royalist Forces quartered in Province of Guayana and their exit
of the Delta’s castles that will give beginning to the
definitive independence of Venezuela. The aboriginal man dressed
with his conventional clothes and weapons represents the first
inhabitants of Delta Amacuro: their greatness, hierarchy and
power whereas the precious stones on his feet symbolizes the
Deltaic wealth. The Freedom Goddess represents sovereign
Venezuela and its intimate union with Delta Amacuro: the command
baton that carries in her dexter reminds the protection that the
Nation offers to this part of its territory. The pedestal
consists of a plank: first form of navigation used by the natives
of the region, from which leaves pennants in Or which converges
in a streamlined amphora charged with coffee, cocoa and maize:
agricultural products of the state. The laurel branch alludes to
Bolivar’s triumph of Casacoima with which the Royalist’
presence in Guayana was annulled and the olive tree branch
remembers the wisdom, peace and glory that presides over a
promising and shinning future for the region. The motto remembers
the calmness, the tranquility, the concord and the
bonanza in the state and the enamel of the pennant (vert) alludes
to the verdure of its forests, fertility of its ground, the hope,
the abundance and the freedom.
- Historical Synthesis - Until the moment of the redaction of
this report, is not available data about the origin and official
adoption of this Coat of Arms. However, it’s seems probable
that in a time it was the one of Bolivar State, assigning it to
then Federal Territory and today Delta Amacuro Statel territory
when it was converted in a separated geopolitical entity on 1901.

State during this decade. Formerly it was a Federal Territory.
