As with most municipalities in Salzburg, the coat-of-arms of Zell am See comes in different versions, some of them in accordance with the official blazon, others less so. In some cases these different versions of the arms are also shown on different versions of the municipal flag.
The most frequent versions of the flag show the arms as currently shown on FOTW-ws. As frequently, there are minor variations of these pattern, though: one version is decidedly shorter than the one shown. [6]
Rather more different is the flag officially hoisted at the town hall [7]: the version of the arms is the one also shown at the municipal website, but it differs in many aspects from the other version. In particular the guidon held by Saint Hippolytus is yellow-gold instead of white. The flag is a hanging flag hoisted from an oblique staff.
