Presentation of the Border Guard

The State Border Service (Dövlǝt Sǝrhǝd Xidmǝti, DSX), also known as Border Guard, of Azerbaijan is a government Law enforcement agency. The State Border Service of Azerbaijan was established on 31 July 2002 by Decree of President Heydar Aliyev, by removing the border troops from the control of the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan. The main duties of the border guard are to guard the Azerbaijani borders against any illegal act and to prevent illegal arms, drugs and human trafficking in the country.
The chief of the State Border Service and Commander of the Border Troops is General-Lieutenant Elchin Guliyev.

On 15 January 2004, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signed a Decree prescribing and illustrating the new flags of the State Border Service (DSX).
