Ottoman war flag in Herzegovina - Image by Velid-aga Jerlagić, 24 January 2000
The Regional Archive of Herzegovina keeps a flag that was used by landlords in southern and western Herzegovina, who protected the borders of the Ottoman Empire against Venice. The flag also accompanied Bosnian troops during the second siege of Hotin (Bukovina).
The flag appears in several Bosnian movies that picture Ottoman times (for instance, gazija).
The flag is swallow-tailed, differing from Ottoman flags by the size and direction of crescent.
