About the Flag of Nova Xavantina

According to a booklet by Archimedes Carpentieri circulated in Nova Xavantina in 1984, the municipal flag approved by law 013 of 25 April 1983 was already in use from the middle of 1978 in civic day parades by the schools of the then-districts of Ministro João Alberto and Nova Brasília, later incorporated as the Municipality of Nova Xavantina. It is described as "On an indigo blue field is a five-pointed stars (called a pentalfa) in white." The star and the colors are said to be taken from the state flag of Mato Grosso. Carpentieri goes on to add further interpretation of the colors and the star, with the colors ascribed their usual significance in Brazilian civic heraldry and the star ("like a human with arms and legs extended") said to signify the harmony of the philosophical, ethical, and spiritual values symbolized by the blue field in harmony with the human, earthly, tangible values represented by the pentalfa.

From Law No. 013 of 25 April 1983
