Municipality

The municipality of S�o Jos� das Miss�es (2,720 inhabitants in 2010; 9,807 ha) is located 350 km north of Porto Alegre.

The district of S�o Jos� was established within Palmeira das Miss�es by Municipal Law No. 326 promulgated on 28 November 1956. The municipality of S�o Jos� das Miss�es was established by State Law No. 9,552 promulgated on 20 March 1992 and inaugurated on 1 January 1993.
