Municipality
The municipality of Tr�s Palmeiras (4,381 inhabitants in 2013; 18,870 ha) is
located 400 km north of Porto Alegre.
Tr�s Palmeiras ("Three Palms"),
originally known as Col�nia do Pito, was named for a three-trunked palm - more
probably, three clustered palms. Colonization was initiated in 1912 and
increased in 1920.
The district of Tr�s Palmeiras was established by
Municipal Law No. 43 promulgated on 24 November 1965. The municipality of Tr�s
Palmeiras was established by State Law No. 8,631 promulgated on 12 May 1988,
separating from Ronda Alta.

The flag of Tr�s Palmeiras is horizontally divided yellow-white-green,
charged in the center with a white disc featuring the municipal coat of arms.
