About the Flag of Registro

The flag of Registro was designed by Lauro Ribeiro Escobar. It is blue with a white tea blossom in the fly and a red equilateral triangle, bordered in gold, issuing from the hoist. The flag is 14 units hoist by 20 fly; the tea blossom has a diameter of 5.5 units; the coat of arms, centered on the triangle, is 5.5 units high. The coat of arms was designed by Salvador Thaumaturgo, adopted by law no. 247 of 8 July 1959, and modified by law no. 211/74 of 14 November 1974 according to recommendations made by Escobar. It is blue with a red triangle bordered in gold and charged with a silver tea blossom, all above a wavy silver bar. The shield is ensigned with a silver mural crown of eight towers, its gates open showing red. As supporters, branches of tea with natural colored leaves and flowers, crossing below the shield. The blue scroll bears the name of the municipality between the dates 1934 and 1944, all in gold. The triangle is for the Holy Trinity, a symbol of equality and divine perfection. The tea blossom (Camelia sinensis) represents one of the riches of the municipality. The camelia is also said to be a heraldic symbol of vivacity. The wavy bar represents the water resources of Registro, especially the Rio Ribeira. The red color in the open gates of the mural crown is said to represent in Brazil the status of seat of a judicial district (comarca). The dates on the scroll are the dates when Registro was elevated to the category of district and then to municipality.
