The Flag

Orshanskiy Rayon and City of Orsha is a joint administrative-territorial entity. Its symbols were registered on 23.05.2002.

The flag specifications are as follows; the bottom blue section is 1/4th of the flag's width with the other blue section being 1/4th of the bottom blue section. There is a similar sized gap between the two sections. The flag's ratio is not fully determined; sources debate between the state flag's ratio of 1:2 versus the "golden ratio" of 1:1.618 (shown above).

The rayon has 1 Town Council (Town of Kopys) and 16 Village Councils: Andreevshchinskiy, Babinichskiy, Borzdovskiy, Vysokovskiy, Zabolotskiy, Zadrov'evskiy, Zubovskiy, Zubrevichskiy, Klyukovskiy, Krapivenskiy, Mezhevskiy, Orekhovskiy, Pishchalovskiy, Smol'yanskiy, and Ustenskiy village council. Kopys' coat of arms and flag were adopted on 09.02.2004. Of the other village councils only Orekhovskiy (Town of Orekhovsk) has adopted symbols on 28.11.2011.

The military village of Bolbasovo, formerly known as "Military Base - 20" during the Soviet era, was granted a coat of arms and flag on 28 February 2011. The arms are a "Iberian style" shield divided per fess with red on the top and blue on the bottom. The red section has silver pilot wings, surmounted by the Red Star roundel of the Soviet Air Force. The blue section has a gold and black hunting horn. This arms is placed on a 1:2 ratio flag, whose background is counter-charged with the colors of the coat of arms.

The town of Baran was granted a coat of arms and flag on 20 January 2006. The arms are placed on a flag with a majority white section; the bottom of the flag has a blue and yellow section with the blue being the larger (1/4th of the flag's width) of the two (yellow being 1/8th of the flag's width).
