The flag is a 1:2 white and blue bicolor with the provincial flag on the canton, and the local coat of arms shield, with square top and round bottom (Flemish-Iberian format) centered on the fly half.

The coat of arms is quartered a cross Gules throughout and the I Azure a ship Or dressed Argent and flagged Or and the II Vert a lion passant guardant Or holding an estoile Or on his dexter and the III and IV plain Argent and in base overall a codfish Azure bellied (?) Argent naiant and on a chief Argent the word "Burgeo" Sable. It is debatable whether the inscription is or not part of the shield but the offset placement of the cross core seems to imply it is.
