Description of the flag

The flag of the Municipality of the District of Chester, Nova Scotia, is white with district logo on it. Here is description of the logo:

DESIGNED BY Richard Eldridge, Sign Writer

BY COUNCIL February 12, 1986
PURPOSE To provide a suitable logo depicting the lifestyle of the Municipality and to use in connection with promotional material.
DESIGN SHAPE Shaped like a shield to indicate integrity and honour.
DESIGN ROADS Indicate the many picturesque, winding roads throughout the Municipality by which the visitors may view the countryside.
TREES Hardwood and evergreen trees signify the great number of Christmas trees which are produced within the Municipality and exported to foreign countries. Lunenburg County is the prime producer of Balsam Fir in the world. Wood cutters supply the needs of Louisiana Pacific (previously Canexel Inc.) at East River and also Nova Scotia Pulp Mills.
FIELDS The lush fields supply the much needed crops for harvest and produce the hay for winter feeding of the livestock.
SKY The land meets the sky on the horizon and gives the sense of freedom that all Canadians enjoy.
SEA Streams and lakes of fresh water join with the sea providing opportunity for sport fishing, the local fishing industry, boating, and yachting. Fresh seafood is a tourist attraction and yachtsmen are welcomed in the sheltered bays of the Municipality.
COLOURS BLUE The sky.
BLUE The sea.
GREEN The fields lush with grass.
BROWN The winding road by which you view the picturesque countryside. The plowed field which signifies the farms in the Municipality.
