The municipality

The municipality of Boisbriand (26,884 inhabitants in 2016; 2,643 ha) is located in the Basses-Laurentides region.

Boisbriand is named for the Boisbriand family; Michel Sidrac du Gué de Boisbriand was granted in 1683 by King of France Louis XIV a big territory located north of river of Mille-Îles, which was settled by his daughter Marie-Thérèse. The first colonists, the Charbonneau family, settled in 1740 close to Grande-Côte. The municipality of Sainte-Thèrèse-Ouest was established on 1 January 1946, separating from Sainte-Thèrèse, and incorporated as a Town on 15 July 1970, renamed as Boisbriand on 16 March 1974.

Description of the flag

According to an email received in March 2001 from a city clerk, the logo of Boisbriand is also the city flag. It is therefore a "banner of the logo".
Luc Baronian, 22 May 2005

The GREEN represents the area of Boisbriand: its residential, commercial and industrial zones, parks and green spaces, its ancestral lands. The intensity of the green reflects the environmental desire of Boisbriand.
The BLUE forms a dynamic wave in the image of Boisbriand: a busy riverside town, aware of contemporary issues.
The TREE symbolizes the Boisbriand lifestyle: its past, present and future. Like a family tree, it is well rooted and goes to new heights.
The Boisbriand CAPTION identifies the city and citizens. Blue is a colour of peace, imagination and perseverance. The logo as a whole reflects the pace, dynamism and constant evolution of Boisbriand, a city committed to environmental and human values.
