The "Coopérative des Paramédics de l'Outaouais" (Outaouais Paramedics' Cooperative) groups more than 200 paramedics scattered all over the region of Outaouais, southern Québec. Every year, the Coopérative answers more than 34,000 calls and organizes some 30,000 medical transports.

On 2 August 2008, Marie-Lou Dubois, aged 29 and employed by the Coopérative since June 2008, was killed in a traffic accident caused by a teenager driving a stolen car. Mrs. Dubois' funeral took place in Gatineau on 9 August, as reported by "Le Droit", 11 August 2008. A photograph by Étienne Ranger shows the entrance of the coffin into the church, honoured by a guard of paramedics, firemen and policemen from the regions of Ottawa and Outaouais. The flag of the Coopérative is shown on the photograph as white with the emblem of the Coopérative.
