Description

There appear to be several different types of flags within the Civil Defense General Directorate, including flags for individual elements of the directorate. However, the overall directorate flag can be seen in a photograph online at https://igx.4sqi.net/img/general/600x600/11035152_NnbbqYVsNaHI02WfmyIq-Yv41Ic0JJXukvvFPXOijhc.jpg. The photograph appears to show two desk flags - the Chilean national flag and the Civil Defense flag. The Civil Defense flag appears to feature the Civil Defense seal centered on a white field. The seal itself is circular and shows a blue and red shield bearing a white star (all fimbriated in gold), with crossed olive branches below the shield in gold, and with the words "DEFENSA CIVIL DE CHILE" in black capital letters arched above the shield and "AL SERVICIO DE LA COMUNIDAD" in black capital letters arched below the shield.

Background

The Civil Defense General Directorate (Dirección General Defensa Civil de Chile, DGDCCH) is the part of the Chilean government responsible for administering the country's civil defense program. According to the organization's website (paraphrasing the Spanish text, translated through Google Translate), its mission is to work with community volunteers in educating and instilling social responsibilities among the populace, focusing on preventing and reducing risks from natural and man-made disasters, as an integral part of the national civil protection system.
