Description

The DNVP was the attempt to revive the name and the tradition of the old DNVP of the Weimar Republic, without success. Founded in 1962, most of its members joined the newly-founded NPD in 1964. There was also an attempt in 1988 to revive the party without any significant outcome. As a party distinctly looking backwards it displayed the black-white-red flag, however, not as a party flag proper. It interpreted the flag as "a cloth of tradition, a flag which must be dear to all Germans".
