Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a heraldic rose Argent, seeded Or and barbed Vert.
Meaning:
The city probably was founded before 1255 by the Dukes of Teck. The Lords of Rosenfeld, who played an important role in Württemberg's history from the 13th until the 15th century, owned a nearby castle since 1390. In 1305 the city was mortgaged and in 1317 sold to the Counts of Württemberg. The rose is a canting element and appeared on local seals with prints since 1372. Basically the arms since then never changed. For a while the rose had six petals instead of the current five petals.
