Rosenheim Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a heraldic rose Argent seeded Or and barbed Vert
Meaning:
Rosenheim gained the rights of a amrket town in 1328. Prints of town seals exist since 1374. The rose is canting and probably taken from the so called "rose arms" of Count Konrad of Wasserburg. He was the last count and his possessions were acquired by the Wittelsbach kin in 1247. Since 1512 the heraldic rose remained the same on seals and since the Aventin map (1523) also in paintings. Only Siebmacher (1605) displayed a red rose in a white field with a branch of thorn. Apian (1568) added a bordure erroneously.
