According to Stadler 1968, p.91, the colours of the city are green and red.

The arms were officially granted in 1510 from Prince Ludwig of the Palatinate. Previously the city only used a seal with the canting willow (Weide). The new arms combined the tree with the lion of the Palatinate, and the lozenges of the Wittelsbach dynasty, Princes of the Palatinate. All later seals and arms show the same composition, the colours of the lower half, however, were often shown as
green in silver.

The field below, a green willow (German: Weide) in a red field on a green triple mount is a canting element. The fields above, a golden lion in black (right) and a field lozengy of silver and blue (left) are alluding to the branches of the Wittelsbach kin. The fields were added in 1510 and granted by Elector Ludwig and Palatine Count Friedrich.
On the banner a white inscription "STADT WEIDEN i.d.OPf." is added beneath the arms. The shield on banner has a white fimbriation.
