Neuenhaus Former Coat of Arms

Shield Gules semy of golden balls (11 pieces), a house Argent with roof Azure, topped by a ridge turret of the same.
Meaning:
The old arms are displaying the golden balls of the Counts of Bentheim with a canting house as an element for the city. In 1317 the counts built a new castle (new house, German: Neues Haus), which developed to a village. In 1369 Neuenhaus received city rights. The oldest seal from the late 14th century with prints since 1487 already displayed a house on the shield of the Counts of Bentheim. Later seals from the 17th century and an arch in the local city hall gate displayed the house perspectively, that's the same way as in the current arms. Otto Hupp (1925) did the same but in the tinctures of the former arms.
