Mauer Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base Vert, standing upon base a wall Gules masoned sable and having four embattlements.
Meaning:
Mauer had been a dominion of the Palatine Counts of Rhine since around 1330 until 1802. The local rulers had been always local noblemen, sometimes of different kins at the same time. The arms are based on a court seal from 1766. The municipal seal from 1786 displayed a quadrangular wall topped by three stars. The wall (German: Mauer) was a canting symbol in the arms of the Mauer kin, being commissionaires of the Palatine Counts. The arms were adopted in 1911 with the wall in natural colours, since 1964 in red.
