Coat of Arms

Shield Or; a castle Gules with two towers, having cone roofs and port and windows Sable, in port under a portcullis Or an inescutcheon Argent, charged with three heraldic roses ordered 2:1, upon the embattlements of the wall a lion rampant Azure, armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
Seals since the 14th century display castle and the lion of the Welfen kin, who acquired the city around 1350. 1890 an inescutcheon was added, displaying a green trefoil, the characteristic mark of coins of the Counts of Roden, who however never played a role in Pattensen. The current inescutcheon displays the family arms of the Counts of Hallermund, who founded the city and established a mint in the early 13th century.
