Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, issuant from base a triplemount Vert, charged with a stag salient Or, each peak crowned by a tower Argent.
Meaning:
Immenhausen gained city rights in the late 13th century. The oldest known seal with prints from 1303 already displays the pattern of the current arms, three towers and the lion of Hessen, passant, sinister facing and without shield (see also: Homberg an der Ohm) under a trefoiled arch. Since the 15th century the arch was considered to be a triplemount, in the seal from 1533 it was replaced by a city wall. Since 1621 (Wessel) the lion was depicted in an inescutcheon. This pattern with inescutcheon and trefoiled arch was introduced in the early 20th century. The colours of the towers have changed regularly, in the early 20th century e.g. the towers were displayed with red rooftops. In the early 20th century the lion was replaced by an eagle, but already in the 1920ies the lion shield was restored. After the merger in 1970 the new arms were designed, showing a stag instead of the historical lion of Hessen.
