Gerolzhofen Coat of Arms

Shield Gules three piles Argent.
Meaning:
The settlement developed and became a city probably in the 14th century. The oldest city seal with prints since 1359 already displayed the Franconian rake in a triangular shield. It was the coat of arms of the chapter of the cathedral of Würzburg and of the Bishopric of Würzburg since the beginning of the 15th century. By an order of the Bavarian government between 1819 and 1949 the Bavarian colours white and blue had been in use. The flag colours are a repetition of the tinctures of the arms.
