Brief History

In Neukirchen a church was built. To distinguish this place from an older church in Repelen the place was named Neukirchen (=new church). The place was origin of numerous spiritual and charity activities. During the Franconian rule in early middle ages Vluyn was built near a castle. Textiles industries (linen and cotton) and mining were the main occupational activities. Neukirchen and Vluyn merged in 1928.
