Historical Topics

On 18 August 1905 Josef C. Neckermann, chairman of Deutsche Sporthilfe and often olympic champion in equitation, founded the Würzburger Rudergesellschaft von 1905 e.V., being angry about the treatment of his horse(!) parked improperly at the boat-house of the Würzburger Ruderclub.
On 14 September 1912 the Würzburger Ruderclub "Bayern" e.V. was established. Both clubs merged on 30 January 1948 forming the Würzburger Rudergesellschaft "Bayern" e.V..
In 2004 Würzburger Rudergesellschaft "Bayern" e.V. and the Würzburger Ruderverein von 1875 e.V.(est. 9 July 1875) already had merged forming the new club Würzburger Ruderverein "ayern" von 1875/1905e.V..

Unknown Flag

The flag in question looks like a rowing club flag, probably of Würzburg, but I can't trace the source. Can anybody give reconfirmation?
The flag is red, divided by a white centred cross. Upper hoist quarter is whitemasoned red, superimposed by a blue lozenge with red inscriptions "WRVB". The whole is superimposed by a blue saltire with a white disc in the centre containing a blue 6-point star. All elements match "WRVB", but I believe they have a logo flag showing Würzburg castle.
