The municipality of Enix (451 inhabitants in 2013; 6,700 ha; municipal website) is located in the Sierra de Gádar, 20 km west of Almería.

Symbols of Enix

The flag of Enix is vertically divided white-yellow (1:2) by a vertical blue wavy stripe. The hoist side is charged with a red, centred cross (St. George's Cross). The municipal coat of arms is placed in the yellow part, touching the blue stripe.

The coat of arms of Enix is "Per fess, 1a. Gules an asymmetrical tower or masoned sable ports and windows azure, 1b. Argent a lion rampant gules crowned or armed azure, 2. Azure a sun or behind a gorge proper [brownish]. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.

The file submitted by the municipality of Enix for the adoption of the coat of arms was declared null and void by a Resolution adopted on 13 November 1997 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 9 December 1997 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 142, pp. 14,542-14,543 (text).
