The flag and arms of Oquillas are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 7
June 2002 by the Municipal Council, signed the same day by the Mayor,
and published on 19 June 2002 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 117, pp. 8,194-8,195 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Quadrangular, 1x1. On blue a yellow bend of 2.5/10 in width. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms.
Coat of arms: Dextered per pale [1:2], 1. Gules the arms of Castile in base a yoke argent charged with a hoe of the same, 2. Azure a letter "O" voided argent ensigned with a diadem argent charged with a ruby flanked with palms argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown.
The coat of arms represents the political environment of the town through the arms of Castile. Its ethnographic and economical environment is expressed by the yoke and the hoe, basic elements of the rural life for more than thousands years in Oquillas. On the second field, azure, is shown the design used by the municipality of Oquillas in the 19th century. The Royal crown represents the Kingdom of Spain.
