The former municipality of Carbonero de Ahusín was incorporated to Armuña by Decree No. 959, adopted on 6 April 1972 by the Spanish Government and published on 19 April 1972 in the Spanish official gazette, No. 94, p. 6,945 (photo). The submunicipal entity of Carbonero de Ahusín was established by Royal Decree No. 2,914, signed on 21 November 1980 and published on 16 January 1981 in the Spanish official gazette, No. 14, p. 1,047 (text).
The re-establishment of the municipality of Carbonero de Ahusín, required on 27 September 1996 by the Municipal Council of Armuña, was turned down by Decree No. 96, adopted on 4 May 2000 by the Government of Castilla y León and published on 12 June 2000 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 140, pp.20,837-20,838 (text). The two settlements were deemed to small to be economically viable after the separation, especially since income in Carbonero de Ahusín was more than half of income in Armuña.

The flag and arms of Carbonero de Ahusín are prescribed by an Agreement adopted on 5 July 2017 by the Municipal Council of Armuña, signed on 15 December 2017 by the Mayor and published on 22 December 2017 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 244, p. 52,445 (text).
The symbols, which are supported by a memoir supplied by Alfonso de Ceballos-Escalera y Gila on 6 June 2017 and were validated on 4 December 2017 by the Chronicler of Arms of Castilla y León (the very same Alfonso de Ceballos-Escalera y Gila, but see below), are described as follows.

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3; charged at hoist with a black triangle inscribing an holly oak eradicated or with seven roots argent and the canopy flamed gules; the panel divided at fly red over white.
Coat of arms: Argent a bell sable surrounded by two wells azure masoned sable with machinery dexter with a bucket. Grafted in base sable a holly oak eradicated or with seven roots argent and the canopy flamed gules. A chief gules with a two-storeyed aqueduct argent masoned sable. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown.

The symbols were designed by Carlos J. Cecilia Centeno, based on historical investigation performed by Jesús Llorente Roldán. The two authors are native from Carbonero.
The arms feature the good well (with the bucket) and the bad well, the bell of the chapel and a representation of charcoal (carbón), the village's namesake. In chief is represented the heraldic symbol of the Province of Segovia, the Segovia aqueduct.
