Drakengard was an RPG video game for the PlayStation 2, released by Square Enix in 2003. A sequel, Drakengard 2, followed in 2005; both were titled Drag-On Dragoon in Japan.
The games are set in a medieval high-fantasy milieu and involve a war
between the kingdom of Caerleon and the Empire, the latter secretly
controlled by an evil cult which is fomenting a bloody worldwide
crusade. Amid this, a mortally wounded Caerleon knight makes a pact
with a caged dragon to save both of their lives.

The flag of the Empire appears in the first game's trailer (detail).
It's a kind of dull purplish red with an emblem, two winged human
heads partially merged such that they share an eye, encircled by a
nimbus of runes, all this outlined in black and filled in pink.
