Fréhel (1,602 inhabitants in 2020; 1,891 ha) is a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany in northwestern France.
This commune was previously named Pléhérel. Between 1972 and 2004, the commune of Plévenon was merged with Pléhérel and the combination of the two took the name of Fréhel, drawn from the name of Cape Fréhel. However, in 2004, Plévenon became once again a distinct commune, while Pléhérel retained the name of the commune of Fréhel.
The seaside resort of Sables-d'Or-les-Pins is part of Fréhel; it was created in the 1920s on the dunes along the great shore of Minieu, between Pléhérel Plage and Plurien.

A variant flag of Fréhel, white with the coat of arms, could also be observed in the twin town of Chambly, Québec (source).
The coat of arms of Fréhel, created by Jean-Yves Chatellier and adopted in January 1997, is blazoned:
Party per pale 1. Vert five bends Tenny, the chief Sable four barrulets Argent, cantonned of the same with 11 ermine spots Sable 2. Party per fess, I tierced per fess, each fess party of Argent and Azure in the shape of three wavelets breaking in a volute towards dexter, II tierced per fess Azure, Or and Vert, debruised by a tree proper flanked in chief at sinister by a flying bird Argent.
