Sport Nautique de Nancy (SNN; website) ranked 7th among the French rowing clubs in 2017, 1st in the 15-16 year age class and 3rd in the 12-14 year age class.

The club was established in 1866, as Sport Nautique de la Meurthe (SNM), named for the river that waters the town of Nancy. Through the organizations of brilliant regattas, banquets and nautical festivals in the Venetian spirit, duly announced and reported in the daily L'Est Républicain, the SNM soon became the place-to-be for the upper classes; the list of its honorary members included His Highness Marshal Forey (1804-1872, elevated Marshal in 1863), Commander of the 3rd Army Corps stationed in Nancy; the Préfet of the department of Meurthe; Baron Buquet (1809-1889), Mayor of Nancy and member of the Legislative Corps from 1852 to 1869; 48 businessmen and merchants and the President of the Chamber of Commerce...
Emperor Napoléon III planned to visit Nancy in 1866 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of Lorraine and Barrois to France, but he cancelled his venue in the aftermath of the battle of Sadowa (3 July 1866) and increasing tension with Prussia; the imperial regatta organized by the SNM were presided by Empress Eugénie and the Imperial Prince.

In 1877, the SNM limited it athletic activities to rowing and swimming; the club decided to enter competitions in 1890; its main regional rivals were the rowing clubs of Verdun, Reims, Compiègne and Sedan.
The SNM organized on 14 July 1889 a comic nautical festival to celebrate the centenary of the storming of the Bastille.
On 5-7 June 1892, Sadi Carnot (1837-1894), President of the Republic (1887-1894), paid an official visit to Nancy, where he met Grand Duke Konstantin (1827-1892), the cousin of Emperor Alexander III (1845-1894; crowned in 1883), then in summer vacation in the Contrexéville spa. Triumphal arcs were erected in several boroughs of Nancy to celebrate the visit, one of them being funded by the SNM and the Vélo-Sport cycling club.
In 1906, Sisowath (1840-1927), King of Cambodia (1904-1927), officially visited France. He went to Nancy to visit factories and attend military parades. International regattas were organized by the SNM, which the king could not presided because of his health, being replaced by the crown prince and several princesses.

The flag of SNN (photo) is horizontally divided red-white with the counter-colored letters "SN" and "NANCY".
