Description of the flag

The Royal Burgh of Lauder is a town in the Scottish Borders council area. It was a royal burgh in the county of Berwickshire until 1975 when both were abolished (as a result of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973). It lies on the edge of the Lammermuir Hills, on the Southern Upland Way."

The coat of arms can be seen here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lauder_Burgh_Arms.jpg

This is a flag which has ceased to be, an ex-flag if you like, but one which from the 2006 photograph linked to, is still being used by the local populace when enacting their local traditions and customs. See also the other photographs in that flickr photostream, which show multiple different coloured streamers attached to the flagpole.
