The municipality of Palaio Faliro (64,021 inhabitants in 2011, 457 ha) is situated on the east coast of the Phalerum Bay, a bay of
the Saronic Gulf, 6 km southwest of Athens city centre.
The municipality was not changed with the 2011 local government reform.
Palaio Faliro takes its name from Phalerum, the main port of Ancient Athens before the port of Piraeus was developed in the 5th century BC.

The flag of Palaio Faliro (image, photo, video), in use at least since 2006-2007, is white with a blue border and the emblem of the municipality, featuring god Poseidon, in the middle.
Beforehand, the municipality used an other flag (Kokkonis website), light blue with the municipal seal, which includes the name of the municipality and its emblem, god Poseidon.
