Presentation of Viljevo

Viljevo is located some 50 km north-west of Osijek, a few km east of Donji Miholjac. It has about 2,500 inhabitants, half of them living in the main village named Viljevo Donje, as was also named the municipality until 1997.

Flag of Viljevo

The symbols of Viljevo are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Viljevo, adopted on 6 February 2006 by the Municipality Assembly.
The Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Viljevo, also adopted on 6 February 2006 by the Municipality Assembly, describe the symbols in Article 4.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is prescribed as "in proportions 1:2, Bordeaux red, on both sides in the centre of it, in the crossing point of the diagonals, the coat of arms bordered with a thin golden yellow line. The height of the coat of arm is 2/3 of the flag's height".

The coat of arms is prescribed as: "In a triangular heart-shaped shield on a red field a silver (white) Andrew's cross and four golden wheat ears (1-2-1)".
Article 4 also claims that this is the historical coat of arms of Viljevo, which is, I believe, incorrect.
