The Decision was invalidated and a new Commission, made of Antun Pišonić, Vladimir Blekić, Stela Ilić, Jasenka Tomić and Mato Tustanić. was set up by Decision Odluka o imenovanju Komisije za utvrđivanje oblika grba i zastav općine Orlovac, adopted on 6 December 1996 and published on 28 April 1997 in Službeni vjesnik Županije Brodsko-posavske, No. 2.
The symbols are described in Articles 7 through 10 of the Municipal Statutes Statut općine Oriovac, adopted on 16 November 2001 and published on 29 July 2009 in the County official gazette Službeni vjesnik Brodsko-posavske županije, No. 10. This is repeated the Municipal Statutes Statut Općine Oriovac, adopted on 14 January 2009 and published on 29 January 2009 in Službeni vjesnik Brodsko-posavske županije, No. 10.
The symbols (municipal website) were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka, and approved by the Ministry of Administration / Central State Office for Administration.

Coat of arms of Oriovac - Image by Željko Heimer, 30 July 2013
The coat of arms is "Gules a crane argent holding a walnut or".
The crane refers to the marshy regions along river Sava and the walnut may be a reference to the origin of the place name (orah means "walnut" in Croatian) as well as to the furniture industry by which Oriovac is famous. A crane holding a stone is an heraldic image of vigilance (although in classical heraldic depicting it holds a stone); here it refers to the history of Oriovac, where the sentries towards the Ottoman Empire were held for centuries.
