The municipality of Borovo (5,360 inhabitants in 2001) is located just north of Vukovar.

Flag of Borovo

The symbols of Borovo are described in the Municipality consolidated Statutes Statut Opčine Borovo (pročišćeni tekst)), adopted on 31 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 31 August 2009 in the County official gazette Službeni vjesnik Vukovarsko-srijemske županije, No. 13 (text).

The flag is in proportions 1:2, yellow with the coat of arms in the middle.

Like in some other municipalities with large Serb population, the Statutes prescribe (Article 8) that the display of "flags, symbols and other national insignia of the Serb national minority" is free as well as their use in ceremonial occasions. In their official use, they have to be used next to the symbols of Croatia. The flag of the Serb minority (this being the simple tricolour red-blue-white) is explicitly prescribed to be permanently hoisted next to the Croatian flag on the municipal hall of Borovo.

Coat of arms of Borovo

The coat of arms is "Gules a scythe, a knife and a ploughshare argent and in base two corn ears with a blue ribbon".
The arms are based on the coat of arms granted in 1884.

Article 3 of the Statutes claims that Borovo "has historical coat of arms and flag", followed by the prescription that the details shall be determined in a separate Decision. This is, presumably, the expression of the claim to the historical coat of arms granted in 1884. However, there is no historical flag of Borovo, as far as I know.

The table flag of Borovo (photo) is a vertical version of the flag, ending triangularly, with the municipality name inscribed along the bottom.

Borovo 770th anniversary flag

The flag celebrating the 770th anniversary of the town (2001) is yellow with the event emblem (photo). On the flag, the emblem encircles the coat of arms with a blue shape, inscribed in the top with anniversary "770" and the year of the document "1231." and the place name on two rows below.
