Overview

MPA (Movimento per le Autonomie = Movement for Autonomies)

The MPA is a Southern regionalist party, founded in 2005 as a split from the UDC. It is particularly strong in Sicily, where its former leader Raffaele Lombardo was governor 2008-2012. In the 2008 and 2013 elections the MPA was part of Berlusconi's alliance; in 2013 partly in joint lists with the other Southern regionalist party, GS. It received 1 seat in the Camera dei Deputati and 2 in the Senato. The Sicilian branch is now called Partito dei Siciliani (Party of the Sicilians). The logo changed somewhat over time, but consists mainly of a gull with a ribbon in the national colours in its beak, over a field with the party name. The flag is white with the logo. [1]
