Overview

SVP (Südtiroler Volkspartei/Partito Popolare Sudtirolese = South Tyrolean People's Party)

The SVP is the dominant regionalist party in South Tyrol, mainly supported by the German-speaking majority and the Ladin minority. Since 1948, it always has won a majority of seats in the provincial parliament (Landtag). Currently it holds 18 seats there, as well as 4 seats in the Camera dei Deputati and 3 in the Senato.

The current symbol shows a white edelweiss flower on black, and in base the party abbreviation. The original symbol (until about 1996) showed only the edelweiss.

The flag is usually used in a vertical, hanging version, and is white-red (the Tyrolean colours) with the party symbol in the center [1,2,3,4,5,6,7].
