On 5 June 2011, the general elections were held in North Macedonia. The ruling party won again and the celebration was held that night around the central square in Skopje. During the celebration, a 22 years young man was killed by a police officer. That was the reason for massive protest of young people in Skopje and in many towns through the country that lasted almost a month every day.
During the protests a modified national flag was waved - same as the current flag, but instead a golden disc, a golden Twitter Bird appears in the center of the flag.
