Coat of Arms

image from Facebook

The coat of arms was adopted through a call from submissions for the council as an event of the Forest Expo of 2000. Vicente Pacheco Vásquez designed the first version of the coat of arms and was chosen as its winner. With his participation and the support of the company "CIDSA", the administration of 2001-2004 redesigned it and adopted the final design as the coat of arms of the municipality. The shield is curved at its upper edges, and bears at the top a map of the municipality with three trees, in the center a mesquite. The inner section of the shield depicts mountains as the background, common in the environment. To the upper-left is a traditional dress of a Tepehuan Indian woman and man. To the upper-right is a theodolite, chainsaw, helmet, and two cogwheels; these represent, respectively, the importance of education, the exploitation of forest and mineral resources, and development. In the upper-center is a locomotive, part of the railroading history of the municipality. Below this, the text "MUNICIPIO DE" "PUEBLO NUEVO" is read, with a woodpecker to the left and squirrel to the right for the fauna of the region. Below the text is a log for forest resources with a book imposed over it reading 1825, when it became a municipality. Below this are two saws, this type the first used to cut trees in the municipality. To its right, there is railroad track, a footpath, and paved road, the different ways of arriving to Pueblo Nuevo.
